Transformational basketball

This CBS News video is just another example of the transformational power of sports... This one in high school basketball.

Nothing like studying at Harvard...

The two classes with the highest enrollment for the Spring semester at Harvard were The Psychology of Leadership and Positive Psychology , both taught by Tal D. Ben-Shahar. Check them out and you'll see why. If you want, you can see videos of the classes ( here and here ).

CGT Presentation - Web 2.0 / Technology

Image
The Internet is not the Internet anymore – It’s becoming an “Architecture for Participation” , but only if you relate to it as that.. Otherwise, it's one big-ass billboard. What's making it an "Architecture for Participation" (I got that expression from Tim O'Reilly in his article, "What is Web 2.0?" ... and that's the 3rd link to the same place, so hopefully you've now clicked on at least one of them...) Amber MacArthur and her podcast "Inside the Net" are a key resource for me (also love Command N , but I don't want to get too crazy here), particulalry for finding specific Web 2.0 stuff, and for seeing how the tools can actually be used. What is Web 2.0? First, Web 2.0 is an attitude, not a technology. There alot to say about it, but you can see from O'Reilley's (OK, that's now the 4th link) Meme Map, it doesn't really boil down to a brief description: Web 2.0 includes things like: Blogs ( www.blogger.com , www....

CGT Presentation - The actual slides

Somebody at the conference asked for the actual PowerPoint slides I used, so I've post them here on Flickr . (She said that she could remember what I said about the slides if she saw the actual slides.)

CGT Presentation - Oriented as a Leader or a Steward???

In the first part of my presentation, I siad that I had left last year's conference intent on starting to work with blogs, podcasting, wikis, and others forms of web technologies, with a particular focus on "Impossible Promises" (i.e. a bold, audacious promise of a global nature). "Why" was because I had seen people like Doc Searls, Rebecca MacKinnon, Amber MacArthur and a host of others doing some incredible things with the technology. The immediate challenge was that the orientation of those people seemed to be different from the orientation of most others who were using those technologies... They seemed to be oriented around "stewarding" something rather than "leading", and the notes on the slides I used to talk about the difference are below: ORIENTATION - ARE YOU ORIENTED TO LEAD OR TO STEWARD? LEAD Make it happen Out in front Directional Enrollment Request STEWARD Call it forth At the center Emergent Participation (Play) Invitation...

CGT Presentation links - Intro Section

In the presentation I did today at the Conference for Global Transformation , I gave alot of information... Here are links for the opening part, with more to follow... (let me know if I'm missing anything.) Summer Hill Seven's blog that I showed is here . (He has two other blogs here and here .) On Friday evening he shared his poem, Inspiration for a Neu Generation . It was incredible to hear him perform his poetry... I've ordered his book, Notes of a Neurotic - wondering how it is off the page instead of the stage. Doc Searl's weblog was the first example of using a blog much more to it's potential, with lots of links and pulling what others say into the conversation. (And if you haven't yet read The Cluetrain Manifesto , you don't know what you're missing!) Rebecca MacKinnon's was the second blog I showed that's great to learn from (be careful... you may get sucked in for hours...) And then there's Amber MacArthur - I showed her blog...
